Two cities. One corridor. Uniting West Hollywood and Los Angeles
The Sunset West Alliance is a unified civic coalition of neighborhood leaders, NA and HOA boards, and residents spanning the western corridor of Sunset Boulevard — bridging stakeholders across the City of West Hollywood and the hillside communities of the City of Los Angeles. We organized out of shared alarm over the rapid forces reshaping Sunset Boulevard: an unchecked influx of digital billboards, out-of-scale hotel and commercial developments, and the displacement of beloved local businesses amid historic storefront turnover. The Alliance exists to ensure that municipal decisions and regional planning prioritize the safety, infrastructure, and livability of our residential neighborhoods, while championing an economically sustainable corridor that serves residents and small businesses first.

Core strategic priorities
- Residential Preservation & Balanced Land Use: Challenging unconstrained commercial creep, inappropriate zoning variances, and digital billboard expansion that compromise residential ridgelines and streetscapes. Commercial growth along Sunset must not erode neighborhood character.
- Public Safety & Critical Egress: Sunset Boulevard serves as the sole arterial fire-egress and evacuation route for hillside residents. We advocate for stringent traffic management, street infrastructure integrity, and emergency vehicle access across city boundaries.
- Quality of Life & Code Enforcement: Demanding transparent, active oversight of late-night hotel operations, rooftop and outdoor sound, valet congestion, and commercial spillover into residential zones.
- Civic Accountability & Candidate Evaluation: Mobilizing a cross-border voting constituency. We formally evaluate municipal initiatives, monitor City Council actions in both West Hollywood and Los Angeles, and issue non-partisan candidate endorsements based on responsiveness to resident needs.
